DT: Hello KHAOSGOTT, How are you?.... when did you start playing?
Khaosgott:
Hails, I'm fine, I just had a look on your questions and I just hope this interview will be good. I played in some bands before ÖRDÖG, worthless local bands, just to strengthen my vocals, and eventually THEROR and I created ÖRDÖG in 2002.

DT: When & why the band was formed? (current line – up)... are you natural from Holland?
Khaosgott:
As I just said, ÖRDÖG was formed in 2002, at the time it just dealt with THEROR playing the guitar and programming the drum-machine and me giving my throat. We had toyed with the idea of creating a band dedicated to the Black Metal Cult for two years and in 2002 we did it. The only reason why we created the band was to pay tribute to the Black Metal Cult, to be common BM listeners was not enough, we felt and we're still feeling the need to inject new rawness within the Black Metal sphere. The line-up has known some changes, we got a guitar / bass player (aka ICONOCLAST) and a drummer (aka LYSHD) now. But the core remains THEROR and I. We aren't from Holland but from France.

DT:
The hyper famous CHRISTOPHE SPAJDEL designed the ÖRDÖG's logo?
Khaosgott:
Yes, that's right. FRANKLY speaking, he did an awesome work on this logo, it's one of his best logos ever, really aggressive and radical. The former logo was too "clean". The SPZAJDEL one embodies ÖRDÖG's hatred and violence. Hails to CHRISTOPHE, the mad satire from Belgium.

DT:
How old are you?.... who put the name of the band and why?.
Khaosgott:
I'm 20, THEROR is 21, the other guys are around 23. I chose the band's name in 1999, 3 years before the real creation of ÖRDÖG. I knew that it would be the name of my band. ÖRDÖG was the nick-name of VLAD TEPES, given by his enemies, the gypsies for instance (TEPES impaled and tortured thousands of them with a devilish hunger). It was an old Hungarian / magyar word which indicated a kind of natural demoniac divinity, it's now used for "Satan/Devil". I chose this name for its sonority, obviously there's a concept behind this name, a concept of heresy for VLAD TEPES used to be a catholic disciple and murdered thousands of people that he considered as unfaithful subhumans, in order to worship his god. He was hated by the catholic power but his legacy is still shining, he worshiped a god of blood and terror...Thus he was considered as a hellish creature ("ÖRDÖG") worshiping a bestial god instead of the positive god that fitted the catholic standards.

DT:
What memories do you have about your "God Forsaken" (Demo Tape 02)?.
Khaosgott:
Painful memories. I was suffering from an ugly sore throat (I was spitting blood between each track we recorded and I am not kidding you!) during the recording session (that lasted 5 hours at THEROR's home). Apart from the recording, we did very wrong choices for the distribution and spreading of this tape. I traded with people who finally appeared as being backstabbers or rip-offs. Anyway, the feedback we got was mostly positive. I am still proud of this tape, especially when I remember the way we recorded it, rawness incarnated!

DT:
Do you think that wearing chains, blood, make-up and all that stuff is important for you image?
Khaosgott:
I work on the principle that we (the individuals behind ÖRDÖG) are not important, only the music/lyrics are standing for us, therefore wearing all the Metal stuff isn't that relevant when it comes to ÖRDÖG.

DT:
Are you into Serial Killers?... tell me your opinion about TED BUNDY, JACK "THE RIPPER" and GILLES DE RAIS.
Khaosgott:
When I was a child, I was a huge fan of ED GEIN hehe, so yes I'm interested into Serial Killers stories and reports but I'm not as interested in them as I used to be when I was 12 years old. Two months ago I read a book from GEORGES BATAILLE about GILLES DE RAIS ("The Trial of GILLES DE RAIS", great history book) and I learned many details about his life, he was a very naive dude, manipulated by his entourage. He was a warlord, a "marechal de France" though, a very ambivalent character, truly interesting. I am not familiar with TED BUNDY or JACK THE RIPPER's stuff. My favourite maniac is SAGAWA, the Japanese cannibal.

DT: How do you describe your style?
Khaosgott:
Raw Black Metal. Nothing to add.

DT:
What topics do you consider in your lyrics?... who writes the music and lyrics in the band?
Khaosgott:
It would be too hard for me to give a relevant answer to your first question. I consider various topics, but in a very abstract way. "God-Forsaken" lyrics were quite "in your face", based upon the loss of faith. "Ov Rapist..." lyrics deal with the Enlightement. The new lyrics are also different... I write all the lyrics. THEROR writes the music.

DT:
What CD's / bands have you been listening to lately?
Khaosgott:
"Casus Luciferi" (WATAIN), "Under the sign of Hell" (GORGOROTH), "Anything great is built upon sorrow" (ANTAEUS), "The eerie cold" (SHINING), "Urfaust" (SVEST), "Subhuman Terrorism" (ANNTHENNATH), "Gallopin Through The Battle Ruins" (ARGHOSLENT), "Morbid Tales" (CELTIC FROST)... I only mentionned the Black/Death Metal bands I've been listening to lately. I also listened to bands such as TOROIDH, WALDTEUFEL, LES SENTIERS CONFLICTUELS, LJDLP, MOEVOT...

DT:
What do you think about LORENA BOBBIT?
Khaosgott:
Sick stuff. I am not familiar with this story but to cut off dicks is really an ugly thing. My opinion: stay true to the girl you're with, especially when she is a psycho hehe! Betrayal can be hard to bear sometimes!

DT: Which do you prefer :
Khaosgott:

MASSACRA or AGRESSOR?
Both bands are great! I would say MASSACRA though.

CHRIS BARNES or GEORGE FISHER?
I am not that much into CANNIBAL CORPSE, anyway I would say BARNES (cause his performance on "Butchered At Birth" is good) even though his SIX FEET UNDER really sucks in my opinion

ZINEDINE ZIDANE or MICHEL PLATINI?
What a question! I don't know what to answer, football is not my cup of tea, I would say PLATINI because at his time football was a sport, now it's an industry.

DT:
Are you satisfied with "Ov Rapist´ Endless Torment - Reh Tape 03"?
Khaosgott:
Totally satisfied. These reh' tracks are really raw and harsh, the feedback for this tape was absolutely great. The artwork is also excellent. Two tracks from this tape will be re-released as a 7" EP soon, with a new artwork/lay-out (still killer!).

DT:
How did the idea of play "Unholy Black Metal" (DARKTHRONE's cover)... do you have any favourite songs on the album?
Khaosgott:
It's a long story. A dude (who turned out to be a goddamn internet loser) offered us to take part to a DARKTHRONE tribute (which was never released indeed), we agreed and we chose "Unholy Black Metal" cause this track is pure rawness. We recorded it straight (one take!). And finally the dude told us that he had some money problems, he was a liar, he was just afraid of releasing something. This guy has ripped off many people (he's the guy behind a horde named Abysmal Desolation). Anyway the cover track was there and we added it to the tape. I don't understand the second part of your question, if you're talking about "Ov Rapist..." then, well, my favourite track is "Growing Sores ov Emptiness", it reminds me of that old feeling of unsound darkness which is less and less present in black metal bands.

DT: Your fave European bands?
Khaosgott:
BURZUM is my favourite European band ever. I also enjoy DARKTHRONE, BELKETRE, TORMENTOR, GORGOROTH, VLAD TEPES, SVEST, CANTUS BESTIAE, MÜTIILATION, OSCULUM INFAME, ...

DT:
In what musical direction will ÖRDÖG's be heading in for the next CD?
Khaosgott:
One thing for sure, ÖRDÖG will change a bit, since now we got a drummer and a bass player. Besides, we will be able to have a little recording studio in the next months, the sound will surely improve. Indeed it will remain raw and murky. Lyrically speaking, my lyrics are more and more abstract, closer to a form of automatic writing.

DT:
Your last growl for DEATHTHRASHER's readers?
Khaosgott:
SPREAD ÖRDÖG'S WRATH! Thanks for the interview!
